  • Body‑Psychotherapy‑Inspired Grounding Class

    Institute of Body Psychotherapy

A somatic practice for presence, regulation, and embodied connection

Grounding is one of the most essential foundations of body psychotherapy — the capacity to inhabit the body, feel supported by the earth, and meet life from a place of steadiness and inner coherence. This weekly grounding class offers a gentle, experiential approach to reconnecting with your body’s natural intelligence through movement, breath, sensation, and awareness.

Drawing from the principles of body psychotherapy, somatic psychology, and therapeutic yoga, this class supports you in cultivating presence, emotional regulation, and embodied resilience. Through slow, mindful practices, you will learn to soften habitual tension, deepen your breath, and reconnect with the aliveness of your body.

This class is suitable for therapists, students of somatic work, and anyone seeking a grounded, embodied way of being.

    What to Expect

Each class includes a blend of:

    Grounding Practices

Simple, accessible movements and postures that help you feel supported, centred, and connected to your body.

    Breath & Nervous System Regulation

Breath‑led practices that support down‑regulation, emotional steadiness, and inner spaciousness.

    Somatic Awareness

Guided explorations that help you sense, feel, and track your internal experience with curiosity and compassion.

    Gentle Movement & Release

Slow, functional movements to unwind tension, increase mobility, and support energetic flow.

    Embodied Presence

Practices that cultivate clarity, connection, and the ability to stay with yourself in the moment.

This is not a fitness‑based class — it is a therapeutic, experiential space designed to support grounding, integration, and embodied awareness.

    Why Grounding Matters

    Grounding is the foundation of:

    • emotional stability

    • nervous system regulation

    • healthy boundaries

    • embodied presence

    • resilience

    • authentic connection

    • freedom in expression

When we are grounded, we can meet life with more clarity, steadiness, and choice. When we are ungrounded, we feel scattered, overwhelmed, reactive, or disconnected from ourselves.

This class offers a practical, embodied pathway back to centre — back to the body, back to breath, back to presence.

    Benefits of This Practice

    Participants often experience:

    • increased calm and emotional steadiness

    • improved body awareness and interoception

    • reduced tension and holding patterns

    • deeper breath and nervous system ease

    • greater sense of safety and connection

    • enhanced capacity for therapeutic work

    • more grounded presence in daily life

    • more open and honest communication / expression
